Joe Moss, beloved Religion teacher and former Head Coach of the Girls Lacrosse team passed away suddenly on December 12. He was 55 years old.

Coach Moss, who retired as head coach in 2017, led the Raiders to two conference championships and a sectional championship while accumulating an overall win-loss record of 25-5.

His teams always played with determination, heart and hustle. Moss’ success at the helm of the program elevated the stature of the Raider program statewide.

“I had the privilege to be Mr.Moss’s assistant coach for two seasons,” said current Head Coach Sheala Osborne ’15. “During that time I was able to experience what it felt like to work alongside a selfless leader. Mr. Moss put his players, students, and colleagues before himself in every situation possible. After I transitioned to the Head Coach, he was always there to support myself and the team in whatever way needed. I could always count on him to help at a practice, connect players with college coaches, encourage new students to try lax or just be there for me to bounce ideas off of. He truly was our biggest fan. He will be so greatly missed in our CDH community.” 

Moss is survived by his wife, Heide, and his two sons, Benjamin and Noah. Our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the Moss family during this very difficult time.

Coach Moss will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 5701 Eden Avenue, Edina, MN 55346. Visitation 5-7 PM Friday, December 17, 2021 at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel as well as an hour prior to mass at the church.
