Raider Swimmers All Drop Time

Cottage Grove, MN - The CDH Boys' Swimming and Diving Team began their postseason on Saturday, February 17 at the Suburban East (SEC) JV Conference Meet.  Led by Senior Nate Leber '24, the team had an outstanding day at the pool!

Joining Leber was Sophomore Carl Steinhoff '26 and Ninth Graders Graham Rasmussen '27 and Brody Tesch '27.  The four started their day with the 200 Medley Relay.  Leber led off swimming backstroke, followed by Rasmussen on breaststroke, Steinhoff swimming butterfly, and Tesch anchoring the relay while swimming freestyle.  Their time of 2:36.93 was a 4.29 second drop from their seed time of 2:41.22 and was good enough for 9th place.

The next event for CDH was the 50 Freestyle.  All four of the guys swam this event.  Each earned a lifetime best with Steinhoff leading the way in a time of 28.11.  This was a 1.92 second drop for Carl and earned him an 18th place finish.

After the Diving event, Steinhoff and Tesch swam the 100 Freestyle as their second, and final, individual event.  Both swam lifetime best swims!  Steinhoff again was the highest place finisher for the Raiders with a time of 1:04.67 finishing in 17th place.  Tesch was right behind him though with a time of 1:05.91 and finished in 19th place.

Next, the four joined forces again in their second, and final, relay of the day.  This time, they swam the 200 Freestyle Relay and finished in a time of 2:15.13 earning 14th place while dropping 1.93 seconds.  Steinhoff anchored this relay and had the fastest split at 28.70.

Finally, Leber and Rasmussen swam their last event of the day, the 100 Backstroke.  Rasmussen led the way with the team's highest place finish.  His time of 1:19.50 was a 7.39 second drop and earned him 7th place!

Overall, the team was a perfect ten for ten!  Every swim was a seasonal and lifetime best!  When the last race was complete, the team finished in 9th place overall with a total of 73 points.  All with just four swimmers!

Up next for the Raiders is the MSHSL 6AA Section Meet.  The meet is Thursday-Saturday, February 22-24, 2024.  The meet will be at the Art Downey Aquatic Center at South View Middle School.  Please see our website for more information.
