To celebrate our coaches who also teach or are staff at CDH, we're sharing a Q&A with each of them over the next few months! Today, meet Randy Muetzel, Boys Tennis Coach and PhyEd teacher.
Did you participate in the sport you coach as a student-athlete?
Yes, I played tennis in high school and college.
What made you decide to coach?
I loved competing as a player and thought that I would enjoy that as a coach as well.
How long have you been coaching here at CDH?
37 years.
What do you love about coaching?
I really like the teaching part of coaching, the relationships that you develop, and the competition.
How does your experience as a coach improve your teaching?
I am able to spend more time with the people that I coach so it helps with the connections that I am able to make with the students that I teach.
How does your experience as a teacher improve your coaching?
I am able to see a number of my students in a different environment.
Do you have any favorite memories from your time coaching?
All the different student-athletes that I have had the privilege to get to know.
