Our faculty are dedicated to our students! Many of them don't only teach - they also coach or advise clubs as well.
To celebrate our coaches who also teach or are staff at CDH, we're sharing a Q&A with each of them over the next few months! Today, meet Bob Kinne '11, who coaches Boys Hockey and Boys Golf, and is Assistant Athletic Director.
Did you participate in the sport you coach as a student-athlete?
I played soccer, hockey, and baseball here at CDH.
What made you decide to coach?
I decided to coach hockey because I had the opportunity to coach with Jim O'Neill who was my coach for Hockey and Baseball when I attended CDH. I started coaching golf last season but we didn't get the chance to play last year. I took an interest in the Job because I wanted to be around the game of golf more.
How long have you been coaching here at CDH?
I have been coaching Hockey since the 2017-2018 season and golf since the 2020 Spring season.
What do you love about coaching?
I love to coach because of all the life lessons I have received while being a player. I just wanted to give back lessons and teaching that have been passed down to me.
How does your experience as a coach improve your work?
It definitely gives me a chance to meet more students on a personal level and get to know more about their lives outside of athletics.
How does your experience as a staff member improve your coaching?
I think that my experiences as a professional has allowed me to handle more difficult situations with injuries and conflict throughout the season.
Do you have any favorite memories from your time coaching?
The memoirs I've made from my first season as a coach I will never forget. It was an absolute pleasure to coach alongside my coaches in high school Charlie Basco and Jim O'Neill.
