    Team Overview

Cross Country is a team running sport in which a team of 5 -7 runners competes. Runners score points based on their place in the race. The team with the lowest score wins. Every runner on the team is important and must have the drive to pass as many competitors as possible. Runners 1 through 5 directly affect the team score, while runners 6 and 7 directly affect other teams’ scores by taking places. They also are used to break ties.

Boys and girls typically compete 5k (3.1 miles) . There are some meets where the distance might be shorter in the early part of the season.

Cross Country Running is a co-ed sport. The regular season begins in August and is 10 weeks in length with section competition starting the third week in October and state meet in early November. Cross Country is a sport for both beginning and experienced runners and a great way to learn a lifelong sport.

We will have up to 10 meets per season. Each student-athlete on the team will have an opportunity to race in each of these meets. Information pertaining to each meet will be listed at the beginning of the season. This information does change from time to time, so check back frequently.

It is required that each participant provide his or her own running shoes for practice and meets. School uniforms are issued to members of the team.
