The Minnesota Vikings organization recognizes outstanding varsity high school football student-athletes in the state of Minnesota that showcase strong leadership on and off the field.
Cretin-Derham Hall senior, Charlie Dennis, was a recipient of the 2017 Community Captain Award. Dennis states, "It means a lot winning this award because it shows that I’m not just a athlete and can lead in other things and it shows that helping others is a important."
The Community Captain nominee requirements include: 3.0 GPA or higher, varsity football player, and voluntary community service record.
The award winners receive a Community Captain plaque, custom Vikings game ball, and a $1,000 donation to the award winner's chosen community initiative.
Dennis will be honored during the Vikings game this Sunday, December 17.
Dennis was featured on KSTP after a tour of US Bank Stadium and receiving a Sleep Number bed from Vikings players Harrison Smith and Terrance Newman. You can catch Dennis towards the end of the interview.
