After completing a successful career as a student-athlete at Notre Dame, James Onwualu signed as a free agent with the San Diego Chargers.  James was a three-year starter for the CDH football team. He played important roles on offense as a running back and receiver.  At Notre Dame, James began his career at wide receiver as a freshman starting four games and playing in twelve.  His efforts on special teams led the Irish to move him to linebacker.  James started eight games as a sophomore, nine as a junior and spent his senior year as a captain for the Irish where he logged career bests in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks.
