Team Participates in "LAX for Change" Event

The CDH’s Girl’s Lacrosse team is back in action and in true fashion!  After creating history and becoming the first CDH Girl's Lacrosse Team to earn a playoff spot in the MN State High School Tournament, members of the State bound team dug deeper to further a cause much bigger than themselves – Lyme Disease.   On Sunday, October 9, 2016,  eight members of the team participated in the 2nd annual LAX for Change Lacrosse Tournament held at Minnetonka High School.  The purpose of the event was to raise awareness and a monetary donation for the winning team’s charity of choice.   Teams placing first through third in a six team round robin were awarded anywhere from $500 - $1,400 which would be donated to their charity of choice.  Consistent with the generous and compassionate spirit of these girls, the CDH Girls Lacrosse team sought to support one of CDH’s own – Lisa Najarian mother of Senior, Kole Najarian.  After years of living with undiagnosed symptoms related to Lyme, Lisa was official diagnosed with Lyme Disease 14 months ago.  Since that time Lisa has been feverously dedicated to understanding more about the disease while bravely and optimistically balancing the physical challenges that Lyme Disease poses.   The girls recognize Lisa as one of their biggest fans – especially without a daughter on the team – who was dedicated to supporting them all the way through playoffs to the State Tournament.

After a six game battle and a first seed in the championship round the Raider girls (Lyme Disease) fell to Minnesota Elite (Tackle Cancer) in sudden death overtime earning them the second place award of $700.  The award will be donated to the Bay Area Lyme Foundation; a foundation collaborating with Lisa to further her current passion of the future MN Lyme Foundation (prospective 501C3).  Members of this team include Grace Altier, Megan Commerce, Elle Crawford, Olivia Crawford, Elise Hitchcock, Bree Osborn, Nina Pitera and Anne Marie Rhoda.
