The Cretin-Derham Hall Summer dancers had the opportunity to attend a dance intensive camp in Brainerd, held by the Minnesota based nationally known company, Just For Kix. The camp was a 4 day/3 night camp that worked with many teams from around Minnesota and surrounding states on dance skills and new routines. Each day the dancers practiced three routines and performed them for each other at the end of camp for the Camp Show. Beyond working on skills in the area of dance, teams were a part of team building activities and creating new friendships with dancers from other schools. Our own Zohra Ruona won the “Firecracker” award for being motivational and energetic to her CHD teammates and dance classmates from other schools. Each day was themed and started out with team roll-call, and each evening ended with a team meeting that entailed a bonding activity. The dancers came out of camp stronger as a team, and ready to start their season with new skills, new routines to share and new or stronger friendships. The experience of Just For Kix camp has been a long standing tradition for the Cretin-Derham Hall Dance Team 13 years strong. It is one that the team and coaches very much look forward to Summer.
