The Cretin-Derham Hall boys lacrosse team is on a three game win streak. The Raiders, led by coach Matt Hourigan, are 7-4 with 2 games left to play in the regular season.
When asked what he was most excited about this season, coach Hourigan said that it was how the team continues to grow throughout the spring season, saying “On the field, our schemes and skills continue to improve as we move toward the Section 3 playoffs in early June.” He added how more importantly, the team continues to grow as young men, “ready to handle adversity and overcome any challenge that comes our way, together.”
The squad has found success through the development of young players. Outside of the varsity group, the Raiders have three teams created to build culture and talent. WithVarsity, JV, B, and Middle School teams, parents and students can find a lacrosse game on Wingerd Field almost every night of the week.”
The Varsity team is led by Maryville University commits Luke Chorlton ’24 and Aidan Siegfried ’24. Coach Hourigan is proud of his squad, saying “Our biggest strength is that we have strong leaders and skilled players at every position on the field.” Goalie Beck Lewis ’25 boasts a 65% save percentage, senior defenseman Aidan Siegfried ’24 leads the team with 63 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers, two-way midfielder Joey Henningsgard ’24 has 6 points and 10 GBs, and attackman Luke Chorlton ’24 leads the team with 36 goals on the year. The Raiders take on rival school St. Thomas Academy on May 21, which is also the team’s teacher appreciation night.
