One of Cretin-Derham Hall’s most historic teams is back for another season. The Raiders baseball team has started the season 2-1-1 with wins over Irondale and #1 ranked East Ridge. With an overall younger roster in this 2024 season, Raiders assistant coach Toby Anderson is “most looking forward to seeing our new group form their own identity. Last year we had a very experienced group who got CDH baseball back on the map. This year's group is a mix of youth and some good experience, and they are in the process of finding their own identity and making their own story.”

The Raiders are approaching this season with a defensive mindset that all starts with their pitching staff. Anderson noted “Our biggest strength this season is our pitching depth, we have the deepest pitching staff that I have had since my time starting here in 2020. We have 10 guys who are all Varsity ready and can contribute whenever their time is called.”

The Raiders are led by Paul Jones ‘24 (P/1B) and Jake Quinn ‘24 (OF) who are committed to the University of Maryland and University of Minnesota respectively. Those two lead what is described by Anderson as “aggressive, high energy baseball.”

The Raiders have a few big events coming up. On May 11, the team will participate in the state’s inaugural “Baseball Day Minnesota.” That will be held at Minnetonka High School where the Raiders will face off against SEC foe East Ridge. On May 21, the Raiders will go toe-to-toe with rival St. Thomas Academy at Siebert Field on the University of Minnesota campus..
