The Cretin-Derham Hall volleyball team is back for another season after reaching the Section 3AAA Quarterfinals last season. The team has a record of 6-20 this season, including wins over Mahtomedi and Hastings. Their last game was a victory over White Bear Lake; the Raiders took the first three sets, dominating from start to finish.

The Raiders are led by five seniors: Avery Hackbarth ’24, Cecelia Plasch ’24, Charlotte Perry ’24, Caris Werden ’24, and Sophia Schwab ’24. Those five are building a standard of excellence for the Raiders that will follow them in the coming years.

The team is led by Head Coach, Erin Horn. Coach Horn, a former Minnesota Golden Gophers volleyball player herself, is in her second year running the Raiders program.

Horn made it clear that she wants her players to improve on and off the court, saying this when she was hired in 2022: “One of the things I’m most excited about with regard to getting into the gym at CDH is working with the players and helping them grow and develop both as athletes and as young women. I understand that these women will not always be volleyball players, but they will always be people with thoughts, ideas, emotions, and relationships.” Coach Horn brings tremendous experience to CDH as she played in the NCAA Final Four (2003) and the National Championship Match (2004).

The Raiders are currently 9th in the Suburban East conference, going 1-7 in conference play. Their next and final conference match is Monday, October 16, against Woodbury. The Match will be held at Cretin-Derham Hall in the team’s home gym, the Joe Mauer Field House.
