The Raiders Boys Soccer team is off to a great start this season with a record of 9-1-3. They are currently in 2nd pace in the Suburban East Conference trailing only state ranked #5 East Ridge who they defeated Thursday night 1-0.

Part of the team's success comes from being able to play aggressive defense and quickly transition to turn defense into offense and score some points. First year Head Coach Russ Turner said “We are able to switch up our play on the fly, we can play out from the back or go long.”

Offensively, the explosiveness of seniors Luke Madden ‘24, Liam Hafenbrack ‘24, and Luke Fowler ‘24 are able to help CDH dominate the ball. Madden and Hafenbrack currently lead the team with 8 goals on the season already, with Liam also leading the team in assists with 12 so far. One strength Coach Turner pointed out was “When we score, we tend to score more. That’s one reason we’ve been able to put a couple of teams away big time this season.”

Defensively, the Raiders have excelled with the trio of Patrick Flashing ‘25, Leif Skally ‘24, Aidan Macke '24 and goalie Ed Krinke ‘24. This team is able to play strong on defense, but at the same time they play patiently. The Raiders do not panic in tight situations and with the trust level established each throughout the team.

Another strong team characteristic is the team spirit. Coach Turner emphasized how important it is for this team to have a strong mindset. He said the team’s motto is “Unbreakable”. “We only pick each other up, not drag each other down if mistakes happen. Captains Hafenbrack, Madden, Fowler, and Krinke have helped carry this motto onto the field.”

Coach Turner wants Raider Nation to expect them to go all out for sections. He said “All the planning is to peak at the right time,” referring to sections. The Raiders are expecting a home game for the quarter finals and Turner says they need the support of the Raider Fans to help give the boys a true home field advantage.
