The Raider Open brings the CDH Community together to benefit Athletics and Activities

Raiders hit the links at the inaugural Raider Open Golf Tournament, held at the Mendakota Country Club on July 10. 

Athletic Director Matt Funk, was enthusiastic about the opportunity to host 124 alumni and friends in the golf tournament, “Raider spirit was alive and well and serves as a testament to the rich traditions of CDH’s athletics and strong support within our community.”  

Prizes were awarded for winning teams and individuals. In the men's division, the team captained by Stoney Schneider ‘86 , shot an overall score of -15. In the women's division, Kim Kneeland Yazbeck ’89, captained the winning team with  -5. Individual contest winners were as follows: Men’s Longest Drive - Brian Whinerry ’98, Women’s Longest Drive - Grace Kinne ’11. Men’s Closest to the Pin - Toby Anderson, Women’s Closest to the Pin - Angie Palen. Men’s Longest Putt - Brian Rubbelke, Women’s Longest Putt - Alyssa Karel Ylinen ’07.

The Raider Open was established this year to build community and raise funds to offset the costs of student athletic fees.  As part of the program, Tony Yazbeck, Associate AD and Funk updated golfers about the athletic program at CDH and their mantra, “Culture Creates Champions.” CDH Interim President, Teri McCloughan also thanked the golfers at the end of the tournament for their ongoing interest in and support of CDH.

“What a great way to bring our CDH community together to celebrate what a special place CDH is while doing something to benefit our student-athletes.” said Kelly Kneeland McQuillan ’91 “As a former athlete at CDH and now a parent of current and past student-athletes, I really appreciate what the Raider Open is doing for our program.”
