Donavhan Cain ’22 had always dreamed of playing basketball at the highest level. From the moment he picked up a basketball as a child, he knew he had found his passion. With hard work, dedication, and the guidance of his coaches and teammates, Cain turned that dream into a reality.

Cain had the opportunity to showcase his skills on the basketball court. Under the mentorship of Head Coach Jerry Kline Jr, '93, Cain flourished and became a key player for the Raiders.

In his senior year, Cain's talent truly shined as he averaged over 18 points per game. His exceptional performances helped lead the Raiders to a 3rd place finish in the MSHSL Class AAAA State Tournament. The pinnacle of his high school career came in that very tournament, during the 3rd place game against Eastview, where Donavhan had a career-high 42 points. His remarkable display of skill and determination left the audience in awe.

The news of Cain's accomplishments quickly spread throughout the school, and Head Coach Jerry Kline Jr couldn't have been prouder of his star player. "Donavhan's dedication and commitment to the sport is truly inspiring," Coach Kline remarked. "He has worked tirelessly to improve his game, and it's evident in his outstanding performance on the court. He is a true testament to what hard work and perseverance can achieve."

With his exceptional talent, it was no surprise when Cain received offers from several Division 1 universities. After careful consideration, he made the decision to accept a scholarship to Southern Utah University, a member of the Western Athletic Conference. This marked a significant milestone in Cain's basketball career as he joined the ranks of the elite few who go on to play Division 1 basketball.

Cain's decision to play at Southern Utah University brought immense pride not only to himself but also to the CDH basketball program. He became the 14th CDH Boys Basketball player since 2011 to earn the opportunity to compete at the Division 1 level, a testament to the exceptional coaching and talent development at CDH.

As Cain prepares to embark on his college journey, Coach Kline offered him some words of wisdom. "Donavhan, you've shown that you have the skills, the determination, and the heart to compete at the highest level. Remember to stay focused, work hard, and embrace the challenges that come your way. Believe in yourself and never forget where you came from. The CDH community will always be cheering you on."

With those words resonating in his mind, Cain will step onto the court at Southern Utah University, ready to make his mark on the Division 1 basketball scene. He knew that the road ahead wouldn't be easy, but he was determined to continue his journey and fulfill his dreams. Cain is ready to leave a lasting legacy, both on and off the court, and the CDH community was behind him every step of the way.
