Cretin-Derham Hall is pleased to announce the hiring of state championship-winning coach Tara Seifert as our new Assistant Athletics Director - Girls Athletics and Student-Athlete Welfare & Development and Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tara Seifert to the Raider family.” said Cretin-Derham Hall Athletic Director Matt Funk. “Coach Seifert brings a championship pedigree to CDH and we are excited to watch her take this program to the next level. Off the court, Coach Seifert will be focused on developing the total student-athlete with a particular focus on our female athletes and coaches.”
Seifert guided Chaska to their first school state championship in 2021, when they beat Rosemount 45-43 for the Class 4A title. The victory completed an 18-0 season, shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seifert has guided Chaska to the state tournament three times: 2008, 2010, and 2021. She has compiled a career win/loss record of 301-143. Over the past five seasons at Chaska, Seifert has compiled a 112-19 win/loss record including a program-best 27-2 in her final season for the Hawks. Seifert was also named the Minnesota State High School Class AAAA Coach of the Year in 2021. Seifert grew up in Lake Park, Iowa and played Division 1 basketball for Iowa State from 1993 - 97.
Seifert will join CDH this summer on a part-time basis, starting full time on August 1.
“I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead the CDH Girls Basketball Program and to be involved in Raider athletics and the CDH community!” Seifert said. “Cretin-Derham Hall has an outstanding history in athletics and I look forward to building this program.”
