The Boys Lacrosse Team has put together a 4 game win streak and is on a roll, standing undefeated in the month of May through two weeks. The story of the team has to be their perseverance. After starting the season 1-4, they have now rebounded to a 5-4 record. The ability to win close games has come in handy during this stretch as the team was able to win two one score games in their last 3 matchups. This included a 12-11 victory against Irondale on the road and a 8-7 victory over East Ridge at home.

The team’s leading scorers are Luke Chorlton ’24 and Louie Bailey ’23 who each are averaging over 2.5 goals per game. Defensively, Goalie Eddie Kielkopf ’23 has provided security in the net tallying nearly 100 saves already this season and saving 57% of goals shot at the net this season.

The Coaching Staff features Matt Hourigan, Jace Childs, Robbie Beerling, and Matt Scanlon who have helped lead the team in this successful stretch. When asked what has been a contributor to the team’s win streak, Kielkopf said “you can feel the energy of the team”. Alec Walworth ’23 echoed the response by saying “we’re having more fun” and pointed to various examples of the team’s bond becoming stronger both on the field and on the sidelines. Kielkopf’s favorite game of the season so far was no doubt the nail biter victory over Irondale which showed the ability of the team to close out tight games and also featured their second highest goal count of the season.

Very clearly a spark has been lit to inspire the Lacrosse team as they have propelled into the top 5 of the Suburban East Conference standings. The team has 4 remaining games, 3 of which are against tough out of conference opponents in Hastings, St. Thomas Academy and Eden Prairie. The team will look to carry on this successful stretch which has put them in position to succeed in sections.
