The CDH Baseball team has been off to an electrifying start, beginning the season 4-0. The team landed at the #1 spot in Prep Baseball Report’s Minnesota Week 1 Rankings after a huge win against previously #1 ranked East Ridge, with a final score of 19-8 after 6 innings. The team additionally received the #22 rank in the PBR Midwest rankings, which included every team across 9 states.

The team began the season with a 12-2 win over Park, marking Head Coach Buzz Hannahan’s first varsity win as the new leader of the program. Hannahan has been an assistant coach of the team for the last 7 years and was a graduate of the class of 1994. After the victory over East Ridge, the team followed up with a dominant showing in their first home game of the season against Roseville, winning 14-1.

This week the team has dealt with rescheduling and delays from the unpredictable weather, but still managed to pick up an 8-4 win against Forest Lake on Tuesday after the game was originally scheduled to play on Monday. Wednesday’s game against Mounds View was rescheduled but the team announced they will be playing Mounds View later this month at a special venue. The team will be matching up against Mounds View at Target Field following the Twins game on Saturday, April 29. The highly anticipated matchup will feature the current #1 and #2 ranked teams in the state by PBR. Tickets for that game are available for sale in the AD Office.

The team has had no problem putting runs on the board and stands as the only remaining undefeated team in the Suburban East Conference. The talented group is filled with multiple D-1 commits Jack Taxdahl ’23, Jake Quinn ’24 (Minnesota) and PJ Jones ’24 (Maryland) and has proven to be a force on the diamond this season The team will look to continue their success for the remainder of the season. The team’s next game is on Friday when they will face off against SEC opponent Irondale.
