The Volleyball team has been having an exciting season, embracing a new coaching staff which is laying the foundation for a successful program. They have multiple shutout wins and have had many moments that signal bright times ahead in the future of the team. Even when facing adversity, the team’s competitive attitude brings the group together and fuels a spark to the team.

The group is led by Head Coach Erin Horn and Assistant Frances Weyrauch. Although Horn is in her first year coaching at Cretin-Derham Hall, she has experience of the game with a successful playing career at the University of Minnesota and several years of coaching experience. “They have been so encouraging towards us and are so passionate about the sport. Our coaches continue to support us on and off the court,” Sophia Huot ‘23 said when she described the coaching staff. The strong foundation of the coaching staff drives the team to play their best every time they step on the court.

The energy of the team can be felt from the sidelines as every point scored in an eventful finish to a set brings cheers from the bench. The applause after each spike and ace fills the Field House. The team has an unbreakable bond and many of the players have been on the court together for four years. The team had a spectacular win on Senior Night last week, winning the first three sets against White Bear Lake. The team closes the regular season on the road against Woodbury tomorrow, looking to end on a high note heading into sections.
