The Boys Soccer Team looks ahead to Sectional play after concluding their successful 13-3 regular season. The hope for a State appearance is present but their journey is just beginning. This season has been a huge step in the right direction that will propel the program going forward.

The team is led by Head Coach Carter Albrecht, along with Assistants Sinisa Vukadin and Ben Bailey. The coaching staff brings plenty of coaching experience, but the background of playing the game has brought a new perspective to the field. “They have tremendous insights on every aspect of the game” is how Adam Tauer ‘23 described their ability to teach and coach the team. They are pushing players to get better while keeping confidence high going into games. An elite coaching staff is an element that helped elevate the team to the level of achievement they have had this year.

The team’s success this season leads them into a tough field ahead in sections but they have been able to show their ability to compete within the SEC and out of conference. They have shown dominance on defense, including 8 shutout victories. They have also been able to light up the scoreboard, scoring 7 or more goals in 3 matchups. “I’m really proud of the way the team has developed,” said Cav McLoone ‘23. Their team chemistry has been proven, building two win streaks of 5 or more games this season. This included a hot start to the season by winning their first 6 games this year outscoring opponents 26 to 2 during this run. “Our Teacher Appreciation night and Senior night were two memorable moments,” Nolan Keefe ‘23 reflected on his favorite games from this season. The team is confident in their abilities but they realize they must take each upcoming game one at a time if they are to further this magical season.

The team will begin its sectional run on Wednesday when they host White Bear Lake at 7pm and will look to collect a win streak leading to a State appearance.

Good Luck and Go Raiders!
