The Raiders football team and community celebrated the successful conclusion of their 2022 Tackle Cancer campaign.

After adding up all donations, the CDH football players, students and community donors raised nearly $3,000.00 for local cancer research and family assistance.

Tackle Cancer is a joint effort of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund and the Minnesota State High School Football Coaches Association. The Fund has a mission of supporting local cancer research projects and programs to improve the lives of those fighting through a cancer diagnosis.

“This is my first Tackle Cancer game, and every year our goal is to exceed the previous year’s total,” said Raiders head football coach Steve Walsh ’85. We should all be very proud of the leadership shown by our students, families and community.”

During the school week, parents of the football team sold “Tackle Cancer T-Shirts” for $15 and were completely sold out by Thursday afternoon

“Cancer affects almost everyone in some way,” said Walsh.  “We want to do our part in fighting this terrible disease and find a cure. Our effort is a way to provide community support for anyone affected, and to fight back.”

Cretin Derham Hall is one of over 170 Minnesota High Schools, the Minnesota Vikings, and most Minnesota college football programs that participates in the Tackle Cancer fundraising program.
