Cretin-Derham Hall has named Matt Funk as Athletic Director. He will also continue to serve as head coach of CDH Boys Hockey, which he has done since 2018.

After a 22-year career at Target Corporation and more than two decades coaching hockey at the high school level, Funk will become Athletic Director at CDH on May 31, 2022. He spent the past four years as head coach of the Boys Hockey program where his team focused not only on a winning record, but the development of student-athletes who excel in the classroom and are leaders in the community.

In addition, he brings a high level of management skills from his corporate experience where he earned respect for his consistent communication and relationship building across high-performing teams. He previously coached hockey at St. Thomas Academy and St. Paul Academy.

“I am thrilled to be the Athletic Director at CDH where I am committed to delivering the top student-athlete experience in high school athletics,” said Funk. “In this role, I hope to have an impact on our community, our students, and our faculty by creating a positive, growth-based learning environment in all our athletic activities at our school. Here at CDH, we give student-athletes the opportunity to be champions in all aspects of student life.”

Frank Miley, President, is excited to welcome Funk to CDH in his expanded role as Athletic Director. “Matt Funk will continue the CDH tradition of excellence. He is a proven leader, in both sports and his corporate career and will work tirelessly to improve our already strong athletic programs for our young women and men,” Miley said.

Funk will replace Phil Archer ‘99 who is leaving at the end of the school year to be Associate Director at the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
