Congratulations to the Boys Swimming and Diving team who ended their season on Saturday at the MSHSL Class AA State Swimming & Diving Meet.  The Raiders finished in 17th place overall and had some outstanding swims!

Led by Captain Luke Leonidas ’22, the team swam well at preliminaries on Friday and qualified both the 200 Medley Relay (14th place) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (15th place) for finals on Saturday.  Joining Leonidas on the 200 Medley Relay were Captain Jacob Wahlstrom ’22, Matt Baumberger ’24, and Ky Pollardcrowghost ’25.  In the 400 Free Relay, Leonidas was joined by Captain Adam Sewich ’22, Baumberger, and Pollardcrowghost.

Individually, Baumberger had a good meet on Friday night finishing in 17th place (1st alternate) in the 200 IM and 20th in the 100 Butterfly.  While he did not qualify for finals in these events, they were good swims and he gained valuable experience that will help him in the future!

Leonidas finished in the top 8 in both of his events and thus is an All-State Swimmer in both the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke.  In the 200 IM, he finished in 4th place with a new school record and an All-American Consideration time of 1:51.09 breaking his own record he set the previous Saturday at Section Finals.  In the 100 Backstroke, he was 4th again in another All-American Consideration Time of 50.31.  Both of these times were lifetime bests for Leonidas!  We will find out in July if he is named All-American in one or both of his events.
