Powerful. Driven. Competitive. The CDH Gymnastics Team has bounced back for its second year with a full team. The team consists of one eighth grader, six ninth graders, two sophomores, two juniors, and six seniors. After four years without a own team, CDH Gymnastics has taken strides to improve their abilities and strive for victories.

The team is made up of all skill levels, from first year gymnasts just learning basic stills, to experienced leaders flipping in the air as if it is second nature. The team is extremely close, and loves screaming and cheering for each other to succeed.

“Being a part of CDH Gymnastics is something I’m really proud of,” said Sophia Lentz ’23. “All of the girls on the team are so supportive and uplifting of one another. I think that us encouraging each other to work so hard is what has gotten us to improve so much recently.”

The program consists of one large team divided into JV and Varsity. Because gymnastics events are individual, there is room for everyone to compete. The team is encouraging all skill levels of gymnasts to participate. As the team continues to grow, the main focus is for each individual gymnast to accomplish their own goals, which will then benefit the team. As the team reflects on the new team high score of 128.9 —  22.2 points above last years’ 106.7 — there is nothing but excitement for what is to come.

“The Gymnastics team is constantly growing in skill and friendship,” said Mary Kae Kuenster ’22. “Every day, girls are working hard and accomplishing big goals. The love and support on the team is shown through the way that teammates get more excited for each other than themselves. The team’s successes are fueled by the fun and support the team has created. This team has really impacted my CDH Gymnastics experience for the better, and I’m so lucky to be part of it.”

As our winter season goes by the gymnastics team urges students and community members to come to our final meet on February 2nd vs. Mounds View/Irondale at Edgewood Middle School in Mounds View.
