Dedicated. Passionate. Driven. The CDH Dance Team has created a name for themselves through years of hard work. After being named conference champions last year in kick and making it to state in jazz, the dance team continues to set their goals high with the mindset of making it to state for the second time in their history.

Not only is this team highly competitive and hard working, but they are arguably one of the closest teams at CDH. The team sees themselves almost like sisters, welcoming with open arms, as the team also strives to focus on mental toughness and health.

“Being a part of CDHDT has been one of the best experiences I've had,” said Emily Boss ’25. I came from a small school, and didn’t know many people at CDH. The dance team welcomed me right away, and I immediately felt like a part of the team. I’m beyond lucky I get to share my passion with girls who are so positive and hard working. I can always count on my teammates and coaches to help me whenever I need it, in and out of dance. I couldn’t ask for a better team.”

With 4 teams total — Varsity Jazz, Varsity Kick, JV Jazz, and JV Kick — everyone has a place and level that is suitable for them. The Varsity team has shown through their two recent conference competitions that they can most likely secure a spot within the top three for overall conference, with their main competitors being Forest Lake, Mounds View, and Roseville. JV has also shown incredible results, as their score sheets show that they are starting, point-wise, where last year’s team ended the season.

“Being a part of the program’s growth over the past four years has been one of the most rewarding experiences,” said Captain Olivia Hunt ’22. “My freshman year we placed for the first time at a conference competition, and it’s only gone up from there. This team’s hard work and dedication is what has helped us continue to grow each year, and there’s no other group of girls I’d rather spend most of my free time with.”

“The memories created on CDHDT truly last a lifetime. I’ve gotten the opportunity to experience the pure excitement and joy of going to practice everyday. Because of this I can confidently say that dance is my happy place,” said Captain Julianne Mason ’22.

As the dance team will have plenty more upcoming competitions this winter, we urge you to go support and cheer them on!
