The boys' basketball team enters the season with high hopes and even higher expectations in what they hope to be another magical run to the state tournament

"Our goals are to be a state tournament team with a state championship as the ultimate goal," said coach Jerry Kline ’93, in his eighteenth year at the helm of the Raiders. "The expectation is to compete at a high level every night and be playing at the highest level we can."

The Raiders will return one starter and four newcomers to the lineup from last year's state runner-up team, led by senior captain Tre Holloman ’22 who has signed to play college basketball for Michigan State University.

Holloman returns after making first team All-State last year as a junior, who he led the team in scoring with a 21.0 PPG average as well as leading the state in assists and steals. The Raiders also welcomed a trio of newcomers to the line up including 6’4” guard Donavhan Cain ’22, 6’10”forward Brandon Melchior ’22, and 6’7 forward Mekhi Edwards ’24. Cain and Melchior averaged 18 and 14 PPG respectively at their former schools and look to make an immediate impact to the team.

Other key contributors to the team will be  Adam Tauer ’23, Miles Bollinger ’24, Charlie Plum ’22, Sam Koopmeiners ’23, David Oturu ’22, and Jake Little ’23.

"We have far more depth than a year ago," said Kline. "Even though we lost some great kids and key role players, we like to think we should be even better and have an opportunity to take it to the next level."

The Raiders will be playing a very competitive schedule that includes games against state powers Minnetonka, Totino Grace, East Ridge, Wayzata, Lakeville South, Eastview and DeLaSalle.

CDH officially enters the season as the #2 ranked team in the state. The season officially kicks off at 7PM on Friday, December 3, with a matchup with rival St. Thomas Academy, hosted by CDH. Tickets are available at the door.

Good luck to the Raiders!
