Our faculty are dedicated to our students! Many of them don't only teach - they also coach or advise clubs as well.

To celebrate our coaches who also teach or are staff at CDH, we're sharing a Q&A with each of them over the next few months! Chuck Miesbauer '03 is Head Football Coach and Alumni & Development Gift Officer.

Did you participate in the sport you coach as a student-athlete?
Yes, I played football at CDH from 1999-2002.

What made you decide to coach?
I wanted to be able to impact young men the same way coaches and men like Rich Kallok and Frank Jackson impacted my life.

How long have you been coaching here at CDH?
Two years.

What do you love about coaching?
Seeing a young person achieve something that, at one point, they didn’t believe they were capable of.

How does your experience as a coach improve your work?
The relationships I get to develop with our students give me great pride and confidence that Cretin-Derham Hall is a place and a mission that is deserving of the generous support of our alumni. I love talking about how great our students are and being able to tell the stories behind the students.

How does your work experience improve your coaching?
My involvement with our alumni is a constant reminder that how our student-athletes carry themselves on the field, in the classroom, and in the community matters way more than they understand. The fact that so many of our alumni want the best for and are willing to support our current students who they will likely never meet is extremely powerful.

Do you have any favorite memories from your time coaching?
The best are yet to come.
