After a slow start to the season, the varsity Baseball team is heading in to the second half of the tough Suburban East conference schedule. Posting key wins against East Ridge, White Bear Lake, and 6th ranked Mounds View.

Cooper Smith ’22 led the Raiders over Mounds View with an incredible pitching performance with a complete game shutout. The Raiders had a late game two-run surge capitalizing on a leadoff single from Ben Kimlinger ’21 and Ryan Warford ’23. Will Schuld ’21 drove in Kimlinger with a sac fly and the Raiders added another in the sixth inning.

The younger Raiders have stepped up in a big way. Colin Scanlan ’23 and Warford lead the Raiders in hitting. In addition, PJ Jones ’24 DH/1B and Jake Quinn ’24 Inf/OF have played key roles in the Raiders lineup.

The Raiders pitching staff, anchored by Ben Weber ’22 and closer Erik Stomberg ’22, have carried the Raiders and have drawn college interest. The Raiders’ pitching staff this year is deep with five contributing arms.

The Raiders have closed out the regular season with three straight wins against teams with 12+ victories, defeating Park 7-4 on senior day, Hopkins 3-0 and arch rival Saint Thomas Academy 6-5 in 9 innings on Smith’s 2 run homer in the top of the 9th. Great momentum heading into the playoffs.
