The Boys Swimming & Diving team swam at the Section 4AA Championship Meet March 13th at Stillwater Middle School. We had a great meet and finished in 4th place overall! I am pleased to announce that our team has earned Academic Silver Status with a Team GPA of 3.51! This is the 16th year in a row that our team has earned either Silver or Gold Status. It is the 10th Silver Status they have earned since the 2005-2006 school year when the award was created.  On the swimming side, we had 30 swims last night and 29 of them were lifetime or seasonal bests. Our guys swam so well that we will be going to STATE on Friday, March 19!

This is the 7th year in a row and the 24th time in the past 25 years that we will be representing CDH at the MSHSL Class AA Meet. The meet will be held at the U of MN Aquatic Center and will start at 6 pm. Sadly, there will not be any spectators due to COVID-19.

The meet will be streamed at https://prepspotlight.tv/MSHSL/EventPackage.

We are swimming in the second session. Session 1 will be earlier on Friday. At the end of our session, the results from both sessions will be combined and the top 16 finishers will be announced.

Our first event on Friday will be the 200 Medley Relay. Luke Leonidas ’22 (Backstroke), Jacob Wahlstrom ’22 (Breaststroke), Matt Baumberger ’24 (Butterfly), and Team Captain Adam Sewich ’22 (Freestyle) along with Nolan Heuermann ’24 (Relay Alternate) will swim on this relay. Currently, we are seeded in 21st place. At Sections, they finished in second place behind the team from Stillwater. The top two finishers in every event at Sections and anyone that makes the qualifying time advances to State.

For our next event, Leonidas will swim the 200 Individual Medley (IM).  He finished in second place at Sections and also made the state qualifying time of 1:57.69. Leonidas' time of 1:54.64 is a new school record!  The previous record was 1:56.46 held by Zach Weis ’07. Leonidas is currently seeded 7th in this event heading into state.

Our third event will be the 100 Backstroke. Leonidas defended his Section 4AA Title and won the event with a State Qualifying time of 51.77. He is currently seeded 5th for Friday and is only 1.40 seconds away from the All-American Consideration time!

The final event we have on Friday will be the 100 breaststroke. Wahlstrom had an outstanding swim at sections and finished in second place with a time of 1:02.70!  Going into the meet, Wahlstrom was seeded in 6th place. He had a great race and dropped 4.21 seconds from his previous best time! He is seeded 21st heading into the meet on Friday.
