The Dance Team took third in jazz and fourth in kick at sections, qualifying them for the State tournament on March 13.
The team is always strong, but has particularly excelled this year.
"Typically, our difficulty of skills and choreography scores high, what is unique this year and has allowed us to have such great success is the execution, routine effectiveness, and degree of accuracy, all things we are scored on for the routine," said Head Coach Ali Pendergrass. "The senior leadership and overall commitment is also fantastic this year! The girls set their minds on this goal at the end of last season and did whatever they could to reach it!"
COVID-19 precautions meant that the group was not able to attend their Just For Kix summer camp or complete additional conditioning in the off season. However, they found ways around the limitations. They completed their choreography early in the Winter season, and then practiced together virtually throughout the four-week pause in athletics at the end of 2020.
"This team has learned the true meaning of resilience and adaptability," Pendergrass said.
