In conjunction with Governor Tim Walz’s announcement on new COVID-19 restrictions on organized sports (adult and youth), Cretin-Derham Hall will suspend all athletic activities beginning Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.  These restrictions will be in place through Friday, December 18, 2020.

CDH is in full support of the state-mandated, four-week pause on athletics because it is in the best interest of our student athletes, our families, and our community overall.  The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) offered this statement of support last night after the announcement and will be offering guidance to high schools regarding the end of the fall season and the beginning of winter season.

Despite the pause in athletic activity, registration for winter sports is still open and applicable for the winter season once pause is lifted and organized sports can resume.

Please be aware of the following protocols for all student-athletes and coaches in effect through Friday, December 18, 2020:

  • Outdoor activities are limited to your immediate family.
  • Indoor activities are prohibited after midnight on Friday, November 20, 2020.
  • There should be no in-person contact with coaches during the pause.
  • There will be no after-school activities (fitness center, film sessions, or training room visits).
  • Virtual practice and connection between coaches and student-athletes is encouraged.

We understand that this is distressing news for many of us in high school sports.  The aggressive growth in the incidence of COVID-19 demands our collective support in doing what we can to curb the spread and protect our community. This ‘pause’ in athletic activity will be an important component of this effort.  Please know that we are committed to the important role that sports play in the development of our student-athletes and will do what is necessary to ensure a confident and safe return to organized sports.

We will continue to update you as needed.  Stay safe, Raiders.
