The Cretin-Derham Hall Summer Raider Edge Training was a smashing success this summer in providing an opportunity for training during difficult times. The program welcomed360 students in 34 different groups (pods) over 17 time slots. With special attention applied to being compliant with CDC, MDH, and other guidelines, we were able to offer a safe environment where we had no students test positive for Covid-19 through the program transmission. , This year, more attention was paid to conditioning and reacclimating athletes after many had not had regular workouts since March 15th.

The feedback from the CDH community has been extremely positive. “The ability to provide a first class training program while keeping everyone safe and healthy was our top priority,” said Raiders Edge Director Jerry Macken. “I believe we accomplished that goal.”

To keep everyone healthy, Raiders Edge utilized space in several areas of the CDH campus as well as created training pods, limiting student-athlete contact to a single small group for the entire six week training program. If a positive case of COVID had occurred, the pods would serve as a tracking tool to inform those who may have been affected.

The program was a huge success and our student athletes are able to hit the ground running as the fall sports season begins.
