Sara Waters has been named as the new head coach for the Girls Volleyball program.

Waters has a lifelong love for volleyball and comes to CDH after serving as the varsity coach and program lead at Nova Classical Academy. Waters was selected as the 2018 Section 4A Coach of the Year after the team’s section 2nd place finish. In 2019 her team was moved to Section 4AA and finished in the semi-final. During those years, several of the players she coached continued on to NCAA Division I, II, and III volleyball programs. Waters brings a proven track-record for developing athletes from the early stages to a collegiate-ready level of play.

Waters was a four-year Division II volleyball athlete at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She attended Concordia Academy in Roseville, and played in the MSHSL Volleyball Tournament twice, with her team winning the championship in ’87.

“I am excited to bring my enthusiasm and experience to the CDH volleyball program. I look forward to instilling competitiveness, teamwork, and leadership by building on a foundation of fundamentals and conditioning that will empower female athletes to reach their full potential on and off the court,” Waters said.

Waters holds an M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of St. Catherine/Dominican University. She graduated cum laude from Augustana University with a BA in English. Waters worked in the Minneapolis Public Library System where she ran the “Summer Reading” and “Homework Helper” programs, then left the library system to start a family and establish a small business focusing on Early Literacy. Waters currently resides in South Minneapolis with her husband Pat ’89 and their two children who are all active volleyball players.

 Welcome to CDH, Coach Waters!!!
