Cretin-Derham Hall provides baseline ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment & Cognitive Testing) for student-athletes prior to each sports season. This online test is administered by the athletic trainer, and scheduled for students participating in football, soccer, basketball, hockey, and lacrosse. Individual students may also schedule testing with the athletic trainer. Multiple aspects of cognitive function are measured during the test including attention span, working memory, sustained and selective attention time, response variability, non-verbal problem solving, and reaction time. Information collected from the baseline test can then be used to compare to post-injury test results if a student-athlete should suffer a concussion. It is strongly encouraged that all Cretin-Derham Hall student-athletes complete a baseline test every other year, as it is an effective tool to assist in the return to play process.
