Dan Willaert was named head wrestling coach at Cretin-Derham Hall in 2010.  Prior to becoming a head coach, Willaert was a assistant coach at Hastings High School for four years and at Saint Michael-Albertville High School for one year.  He also worked on the Minnesota Storm Cadet Freestyle and Greco-Roman coaching staff for several years.  More recently, he helped establish Saint Paul Wrestling Club to give youth an opportunity to experience the international styles of wrestling.

Dan is from Mankato, Minnesota where he was a three-sport athlete at Loyola High School.  He went on to wrestle at Saint John's University and earned All-American honors in 2006 along with three NWCA Scholar All-American awards.  He holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Saint John's and earned a master's degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Minnesota.  He works as a teacher in the mathematics department at Cretin-Derham Hall.

Willaert believes that high school athletics are important because they allow schools an opportunity to develop the entire person.  They can help promote a positive school culture, giving student-athletes one more thing to look forward to in their school day.
