Junior Jaeden King '19 made 6 of 11 shots from 3pt range in route to a game high 24 points and CDH post players Daniel Oturu' 18 and Sy Chatman '18 scored 23 and 20 respectively as Cretin-Derham Hall captured the inaugural Archbishop John Ireland Golden Basketball Trophy with a 84-66 road win at #2AAA St.Thomas Academy.
Oturu also finished with 14 rebounds and 8 blocks and Chatman recored 9 rebounds and 4 assists. PG Ryan Larson '18 led the team with a game high 15 assists and Jake Prince '18 provided physical defense that wore the Cadets down in the 2nd half when CDH outscored STA 46-31.
CDH improves to 6-1 overall and is expected to claim the #1 state ranking in AAAA when the new poll is released on Wednesday.
The Raiders will travel to St.Cloud next weekend to play in the Granite City Classic. CDH will play St.Cloud Tech on Friday night and then will face #4AAAA Apple Valley on Saturday at St.Cloud State University.
